Jessica NicoEastern Reporter

YOUNGSTERS Emerson Alexis and Chris Donnell have more than just a love of soccer in common.

The pair are both members of the Perth Soccer Club’s NPL squad, both are part of John Curtin College of the Art’s Gifted and Talented Soccer Program and both have just been selected to represent WA in the upcoming School Sports Australia Under-12s soccer tournament in August.

They are the youngest of nine John Curtin schoolmates in the competition including Emma Carbon, Sander Lundeguard, George Festa and Walter Scott as well as Kristian Santich, Izaak Kobilanski and Mitchell Firth (all selected in Under-19s squads), who also play for the Cockburn City Soccer Club.

Chris said soccer has been in the blood since he was a toddler.

“I’ve been playing ever since I could walk, when my dad used to teach me,” he said.

“’I’m really excited to play for School Sports because this is the first year we can play.”

Emerson said he was a big Rangers fan, and was looking to model his game off some of his favourite players.

The Under-12s and Under-19s School Sports Australia soccer tournament will be held in Rockingham in August.
