Run by the Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Cluband developer Mirvac, participants can choose to hit the water for either a 1600m or 3200m swim.

Leighton Swim Thru co-ordinator Colin Duffield said they hoped the event promoted open water swimming.

“Competitors enjoy the fun nature of the event with a friendly atmosphere and relatively calm waters,” he said.

“The event helps profile our Surf Life Saving movement and show we have the capability to manage big events and provide water safety to a very high level.”
