YOUNG members of Samson-based French’s Martial Arts brought home a big haul of medals after competing in an international bout in Malaysia recently.

Eight young members travelled to Malaysia for the CK Classic Taekwondo Tournament, competing against athletes from 10 different countries where they excelled, bringing home six medals between them.

Diaz Gizzarone, Bradley Reeby and Layla Boskovich all won bronze while Matthew Summerfield and Aidan Jardim won silver.

Kade Gizzarone not only won gold, but was also named the Best Cadet Male of the tournament.

Coach Steele French said all eight of the children had trained hard all year for the event and everyone at the club was proud of their performance.

“It’s not easy to get in the ring in front of hundreds of spectators and compete against other nations, but they all did our club proud,” he said.

“Events like this are a fantastic experience for our young athletes and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to be a part of this event.”
