WA claims first Under-13 state hockey title since 1983

WESTERN Australia has claimed its first Under-13s state hockey title in more than three decades.

WA defeated Victoria 4-1 in the grand final of the National Championships, which were held in Melbourne from August 11 to 14.

The win, the state’s first for that age division since 1983, saw them lift the Phil Ginsberg Memorial Trophy.

Queensland beat New South Wales to claim bronze.

Players in the WA squad, which also claimed the Fairest Team award, were selected from clubs making use of the three ice rinks across Perth, including the Cockburn Ice Arena in Bibra Lake.
