Wright triumphant in Thunderdome knock out

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

At the Thunderdome XIV event at Metro City earlier this month, Wright fought against Jason Kennedy, winning the bout by a knock-out in the third round.

Not only was it dubbed the fight of the night, but Wright was also crowned the Thunderdome Heavyweight Champion.

He said there was a lot of running, swimming and sparring with other boxers to get him prepared for the event.

“Jason came out strong and won the first round, but I listened to my coach and the game plan to win the rest of the fight,” he said.

“I’ve worked hard for the fight and sacrificed a lot of my time and I’ve achieved a life long goal by winning this title.”

Also fighting on the night were middleweight contenders Paul Morison, Darran Allison, Steve Gago and Renato Oliveira, as well as Muay Thai competitors Tyler Hardcastle, Grant Jones, John Morton and Chris Goncalves.

Wright will now be preparing for the WA Heavy Weight Titles in May.
