The senior store manager at Jeans West, at just 22 years of age, said she was delighted to be included among the finalists again this year.
Working at Midland Gate since April, Ms OConnor has moved from Bunbury to embrace her career as a leading retailer and shop manager.
She has been shortlisted three times in the final 25 people and once made it to the final 10. But she said the competition was very tough.
They were all so good in the top 10 this year, she said.
I was delighted to be part of the competition and my employer has been so supportive of sending me to Sydney and also to Melbourne to learn alongside the visual merchandising team.
It was great recognition to work alongside the team at the head office of Jeans West in Melbourne.
Jeans West moved to Midland Gate recently and is enjoying building a new customer base in the local precinct.
The customers here are different to where I worked before in Cockburn Sound, she said.
There are more country people who are lovely and I am enjoying meeting and building new relationships with the customers in Midland.
Midland Gate will be a very dynamic centre for retailers in the future and it is exciting to be part of the new era in shopping that the centre offers.
