Joondalup: WA Police to have strong presence at Listen Out music festival

Staff WriterCommunity News

WA Police say they will have a “strong presence” at Sunday’s Listen Out dance music festival at HBF Arena in Joondalup.

The event is expected to attract 26,000 people, with big-name acts like Skrillex, A$AP Rocky and Confidence Man.

WA Police have been working closely with event organisers and, after the recent deaths of two concert goers at an event in New South Wales, warned people against taking drugs.

“Events in New South Wales last weekend are a reminder of the potential consequences for people who consume illicit drugs,” a WA Police Force spokesperson said.

“The dangers of these drugs are well known and WA Police Force works hard to reduce the supply of these substances in our community.”

Officers will be policing the venue, including with drug detection dogs, uniformed and plainclothes officers.

“The organisers of these events are responsible for the safety of patrons inside these events,” a WA Police Force spokesperson said.

“We will have a strong police presence at this event and will respond to any matters requiring police attention.”
