Metro Football League: teams gear up for finals tilt

QUEENS Park and Koongamia will sit out the first week of the Metro Football League finals this Sunday as reward for finishing in the top two.

They completed the home and away season by playing each other, with minor premier Queens Park winning 14.25 (109) to 12.8 (80).

Koongamia deserved its second semi-final berth after rising from eighth last season.

Warwick Greenwood scraped into this Sunday’s first semi-final by beating Alkimos 22.13 (145) to 9.5 (59).

They knocked Baldivis out of the top four and will again meet Alkimos in the first semi.

In division 2, Innaloo and Warwick Greenwood B play in this Sunday’s first semi while top-two sides Midland and Dwellingup have the week off.

Dwellingup tuned up for the finals with a 20.18 (138) to 11.9 (75) defeat of Warwick Greenwood B.

Midland thrashed Bayswater 27.21 (183) to 4.3 (27).
