MATES Ian Fletcher and Scott Simpson have come a long way since selling fish and chips at festivals around Perth.

The duo will start serving burgers made from WA produce and local beers at their new venture Greenhorns that is part of the offering at the Raine Square dining precinct that opens on Monday.

“We worked together at a restaurant and used to go to all the festivals,” Fletcher, the chef, said.

“We were fed up with paying $15 for food and it not being good so we decided to do it well with WA produce.”

Fletcher is English and Simpson Scottish so they started as a fish and chip stall and adapted to offer Californian style food like tacos.

They moved on from the food stalls to launch Greenhorns Deli in the Rio Tinto building and have partnered with Feral Brewing Company to serve local beer with burgers and bites at Raine Square.

“We’ve got food that pairs with beers and we’ve got lots of vegan and gluten free options,” Fletcher, of Joondanna, said.

“I used to come here (to Raine Square) before and when we heard it was being redeveloped we looked in to it.

“It’s a great location with the stadium, Perth Arena and Yagan Square nearby and the cinema upstairs.”
