Mt Hawthorn laneway to be tranformed

Staff ReporterEastern Reporter

Architect Taylor Robinson has been enlisted to design The Peasant’s Table, a new bar opening in The Mezz.

Director Graham Taylor said the design was created to make the space feel comfortable for young couples, families and older generations.

‘I would describe it as a similar to Duende (in Leederville) but for families,’ he said.

‘We are not putting a high end city bar in Mt Hawthorn, it will be some whether you are 20 or 60, you will still be comfortable and up your alley so to speak.’

Mr Taylor, who has lived in Mt Hawthorn, said a development of this kind was needed in the area.

‘If you live in that area, you should be able to walk out the front gate and be able to enjoy this kind of venue,’ he said. ‘This is going to be a bit of a different atmosphere than the other options in the area. It will be much more relaxed.’

The Peasant’s Table is the latest development by Jacki O’Hara, who also opened The Publican Bar in East Victoria Park. The laneway venue is expected to be open in August.
