Anzac Cottage open day in Mount Hawthorn

Staff WriterEastern Reporter

Anzac Cottage, 38 Kalgoorlie Street in Mount Hawthorn, was built in one day on 12 February 1916, by the local community.

It was constructed as a home for a returned wounded soldier and his family, and as a memorial for those who lost their lives in the tragic Gallipoli landing.

This weekend the cottage will host a free open day, dedicated to the animals that supported, comforted and aided our servicemen and women during war.
