City Wine Festival moves to Yagan Square

Denise S. CahillEastern Reporter

THE sixth City Wine Festival will move to Yagan Square to create a fresh look for the event this weekend.

New exhibitors such as Chalari Wines, Domaine Naturaliste and Mandalay Road Wines as well as Gourmet Trader and Street Eats from Yagan Square will be part of the winter festival that will allow people to sample the season’s best wine, beer, cider, spirits and food in the heart of Perth.

Event manager Paige Stirton from CMS events said Yagan Square was a new and exciting venue right in the middle of Northbridge and Perth and they wanted to capitalise on that.

“Everything will be undercover and we’ll have heaters to make it a cosy retreat,” Ms Stirton said.

She said City Wine Festival would showcase local producers from around WA.

“It’s always important to support our local industry and keep the money in WA,” Ms Stirton said.

“It encourages people to go out and explore Margaret River or the Great Southern regions.

“It’s good for people to know what’s in their backyard.”

The two-day City Wine Festival is on June 7 from 4-10pm and June 8 from 2-9pm.
