PERTH’s Menagerie Choir is celebrating women who rock with a one-off show at Badlands Bar on August 21.

Joining the choir will be telecaster wrangler Sarah Tout, a longstanding member of Simone and Girlfunkle, and prominent composer Rachael Dease, front woman of chamber rockers Schvendes.

Meri Fatin, coordinator and sometime presenter of radio show ‘Drastic on Plastic’, will be joined by special guest DJs.

Issues of popular music zine Hey Ladies , which celebrates women in music, will be on sale at the event.

Created by Perth-based visual artist Miko Watanabe, the current issue features writings on Tori Amos, The Grates, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and on being a woman working in a record store.

Menagerie’s performance will feature songs arranged by Kate Page, Sally Banyard and Menagerie’s founding Zookeeper Claire Coleman.

Tickets are available from Oztix.
