OF the four million pizzas ordered in Australia via Menulog last year, an astonishing 825,000 had pineapple on them.

Menulog’s data revealed pineapple was one of the top three topping choices added to a pizza, alongside cheese and bacon.

But pineapple was also in the top three most commonly removed pizza toppings, with olives and – no prizes for guessing this – the hairy fish, anchovies.

Seven thousand people across Australia opted to remove pineapple from their pizza of choice – but that’s a paltry figure compared to the 200,000 who opted to add it.

Hawaiian, that pineapple staple, was the equal second-most popular pizza type ordered in Australia last year, behind margherita and level with pepperoni.

Meat lovers was fourth and supreme rounded out the top five.
