The bard just as actor likes it

Now the allure of this character has brought her back to play the lead role in Black Swan State Theatre Company’s upcoming season of the popular Shakespearian romantic comedy.

‘I loved the character and now it’s like coming full circle,’ the 28-year-old said.

‘It’s a great play and I think she’s Shakespeare’s greatest female character. She’s like the female equivalent of Hamlet.’

Staying near her former Mount Lawley stamping ground, Miletic is one of five actors making their debut with the company, joined by Cecelia Peters, also of Mount Lawley, Grace Smibert, of North Perth, James Sweeny and Brett Dowson.

‘It’s great working with fellow WAAPA graduates because I guess we speak the same language while working together and we’ve been trained by the same |people, which is always fun and helps to get the ball rolling,’ Miletic said.

Directed by Roger Hogman, As You Like It is a playful and enchanting tale about love and relationships with disguised identities and language riddled with double meanings.

‘It’s a huge journey in freeing yourself of your constraints and having the courage to go and change your life,’ Miletic said.

Also trained in classical ballet, Miletic said she had no definite plans following the As You Like It season.

‘I just want to be proactive and not wait around for people to knock on my door,’ she said.
