All the trimmings of Christmas for Mt Lawley festival

Sophie GabrielleEastern Reporter

The festival on November 29 will include a concert by The Soprano Project, a Christmas market and a special ceremony to mark the lighting up of the pine tree’s Christmas lights.

The tree is outside St Patrick’s parish and Father Stephen Conway said he was very excited about the tree becoming a local icon.

“When I arrived as the parish priest earlier this year, I wanted to find ways that the church could become involved in the local community,” Father Conway said.

“Holding a celebration that involves local businesses and artists seems like a fantastic way to share our soon to be iconic status.”

The festival is a collaboration between St Patrick’s, the Second Avenue Plaza and UnchARTed Collective.

New local band The Soprano Project will perform at 5pm. Community carols accompanied by a 55-piece concert band will take over the space once the sun sets.
