Alleged Perth watch thief nabbed by bike squad

WA Police’s new Bicycle Patrol Group has enjoyed another win, apprehending a man suspected of a jewellery theft in Perth.

About 2.20pm on Thursday the man entered a jewellery shop in Carillon City.

He allegedly tried on several watches, including a Tag Heuer valued at more than $6000, then took it from the store without paying.

The Bicycle Patrol Group was called to assist and they apprehended a 32-year-old man from East Perth a short time later.

The man was allegedly wearing the watch at the time of his arrest and he has been charged with stealing and breach of bail.

He was due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
