PARTY people across Perth are in grieving after Ambar Nightclub announced it would close its doors after almost 20 years in operation.
Ambar Nightclub will be remembered by an entire generation as the place where electronic music fans wasted away many hours of the night before stumbling into the early morning daylight.
A Facebook post by owner Liam Mazzucchelli announced the news this morning and the reaction online was instantaneous.
Mr Mazzucchelli said in the post that it was with “heavy hearts but clear minds” that the decision had been made to close the nightclub on July 7.
“Ambar has impacted on many lives over the past two decades. The fabric of the extremely tight-knit community has forged lifelong friendships. Careers have been launched. Ambar has hosted hundreds of national and international acts as well as winning dozens of awards,” the post said.
“What we are most proud of is how we have championed and supported the local electronic music scene and continued to do so right to the end.
“We would like to thank the loyal Ambar family of patrons, DJs, promoters and staff who have shared the wonderful journey.
“You know who you are.
“We invite anyone and everyone who has been a part of Ambar’s history to come down over the next few weeks and say goodbye to an old friend, or join us on our final night on Saturday 7 July.”
Facebook users responded swiftly to the news.
