Victoria RificiEastern Reporter

ANGLICARE chief executive Mark Glasson unfurled the LGBTQ community flag at the not-for-profit’s Adelaide Terrace office on Monday.

It now lines the building’s front facing window, alongside the Australian and Aboriginal flags.

“It’s a really good sign for our staff that we are a diverse and inclusive workplace and it’s also a public sign for people in the community who might not be able to access a service or feel they can’t – we’re a welcoming location and they will get good service from us,” Mr Glasson said.

Anglicare WA Youth worker and LGBTQ member Sal Ray said it was a modest gesture but makes a meaningful statement.

“By flying the rainbow flag at our headquarters, it’s signalling to the LGBTQ community that we live our values and advocate fairness and respect for all,” she said.

Mr Glasson said plans to launch the flag started a few years ago and they decided to launch the flag three months ago.
