WEARABLE art will be the centrepiece of Brookfield Place’s Melbourne Cup celebrations.

Artist Ariel Katzir has been live painting a six piece outfit collection over two days, based around high-end tropical cocktail wear.

Ms Katzir has combined dark inks, vibrant acrylics and mixed media on stiff satin silk for the works.

“I’m used to painting in my studio all alone with no one around me – it’s been really nice having people walk past and chat and be curious,” she said.

“I get to talk about it and show them what I do.”

Ms Katzir has a fashion and textiles background, and hopes to showcase her work at the Perth Fashion Festival next year.

The artist will be styling her creations at Brookfield Place for Melbourne Cup Luxe runway show and celebrations tomorrow, with the collection set to be auctioned off.
