‘Atrocious’ weather postpones start of ferry service

More customers are now taking the ferry service to On The Point jetty.

ATROCIOUS weather may have postponed the service commencement for a week, but The Little Ferry Company is now making stops at On The Point jetty outside Ku De Ta.

The service already operated between Elizabeth Quay and Claisebrook Cove on the Swan River.

Captain Kevyn Townley said it was a conscious decision to include the stop as part of the daily service during winter.

“We were scheduled to kick off about two weeks ago but during the first week, the weather was atrocious,” he said.

“We have been going for a week now and it is picking up. It takes a while to educate people (about the service).”

Mr Townley said it would have been silly to continue to pass the jetty several times a day without stopping.

“We know in summer it will be a different kettle of fish,” he said.

“But we were already passing it about 10 times a day every day.”

Justin Smyth, from Ku De Ta, said customers were no longer restricted to accessing the venue by road.
