PERTH people are urged to hop to the CBD this Easter Monday to donate blood.

Fifty people are needed at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service to boost blood supplies for cancer and trauma patients.

Blood Service spokeswoman Jessica Willet said blood product didn’t last much longer than a packet of hot cross buns.

“One blood product, platelets, only lasts for five days so we need a constant supply,” she said.

“Around Easter many regular blood donors are away, which means blood supplies can dip if we don’t have enough good eggs to fill the gap.”

She said so far, Easter Monday only had one donor booked in.

“Your lifesaving donation could help someone spend another Easter holiday with family and friends, and all it costs is an hour of time,” she said.

To make an appointment to donate, call 13 14 95 or visit donateblood.com.au.
