BLOOD Service is seeking 350 people to roll up their sleeve and donate blood in Perth before or after Easter.

Blood Service spokeswoman Jessica Willet said there were plenty of appointments available at the Perth Blood Donor Centre.

She said the demand for blood was ongoing.

“Around Easter many regular blood donors are away, which means blood supplies can dip if we don’t have enough good eggs to fill the gap,” she said.

“One blood product, platelets, only lasts for five days – not much longer than a hot cross bun – so we need a constant supply.

“In particular, more donors are needed at Perth on Easter Sunday, when appointments are less than a third full.”

Ms Willet said one in three people would need blood in their lifetime, but currently only one person in 30 donates.
