CREATIVES and canines are set to collide in West Perth.
Perth photographer Alex Cearns is providing 10 of her favourite pooch pictures to be modified live by 10 of Perth’s top artists at Stala Gallery.
Ms Cearns said photography first became a serious passion for her in 2008 when she purchased her first DSLR camera.
“Animals soon became the natural focus of my lens,” she said.
“I started photographing animals in a studio setting and demand grew – in 2010 I left my full time job, and started Houndstooth Studio.”
The photographer now snaps 1300 Perth animals every year.
Ms Cearns said each piece of art created at Stala Gallery would be a one-of-a-kind collectors item.
Curator Kaye Guthrie, an artist herself, started Creatives Collide in Perth, handpicking artists and art work to showcase local creatives.
“When I met Alex, I knew I wanted to do something with her,” she said.
“When choosing artists, I have to consider that they can paint live and under pressure, and mostly that they can deliver great art on par with Alex’s photos. I really want people to see what these guys can do.”
Catch the likes of Dipesh ‘Peche’ Prasad, Paul Deej, James Giddy and more painting live on Alex Cearn’s photographs for Houndstooth v Creatives Collide from 6pm on Friday, June 7.
