Cheers to national win

The Classroom was recognised as having Australia’s best bar presentation and service at the awards on the Gold Coast this month.

AHA WA chief executive Bradley Woods said The Classroom won the award ahead of other states and territories, demonstrating where WA stood with small bars.

‘We keep telling people that WA’s tourism and hospitality offering is amongst the best in Australia. These awards are testament to that and there is more to come,’ Mr Woods said.

The Classroom manager Andrew Bennett said winning the award was the icing on the cake for the bar.

‘It’s lovely and very humbling,’ Mr Bennett said.

‘We didn’t open the bar to win awards.’

Mr Bennett said the bar had a loyal following of local customers from Mt Hawthorn and North Perth.

‘The best part is the interaction with customers. It’s unique because we are owner-operated and so we are all plugged into the physical delivery,’ he said.

Mr Bennett said a crowd-funding project was under way to pay for a new bar in Northbridge, which is expected to open in January next year.
