CITY of Perth councillor expenses are set to be slashed even further with proposed policy changes now out for public comment.

It has been proposed several reimbursable items including clothing, dry cleaning and personal presentation costs up to $3000 per annum, personal charity donations up to $50 and spectacles be removed from the policy.

The restrictions are likely to have “a positive financial impact” with City records showing in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 financial years, councillors claimed $32,000 on these expenses.

Changes would also be made to travel and accommodation with a provision for business class only for flights longer than three hours.

For flights longer than three hours ,there would be the option of choosing economy or premium economy rather than business class.

Accommodation would also have to be booked near the event venue.

Carers expenses will also be included up to $25 per hour.

The three Perth commissioners in April more than halved the Lord Mayor’s fees from $135,909 down to $60,900 per annum.
