City of Vincent and Nyoongar Outreach Services strengthen partnership

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

THE City of Vincent and Nyoongar Outreach Services (NOS) has strengthened its partnership with a Partnership Understanding Agreement (PUA).

The agreement will last until June 2017, when it will be reviewed.

Last month marked 16 years since NOS began providing mediation and support to address social issues arising in Birdwood Square, Highgate with patrol services.

The City reviewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and it was decided a PUA would better reflect the partnership and working relationship between the two parties.

The PUA includes a mission statement, which references addressing shared issues, particularly in relation to “outreach services for Aboriginal homeless and youth at risk within public spaces that leads to a collaboration of support services for and engagement with clients and the broader City of Vincent community.”

Areas of co-operation have been clarified and include “collaborate with other service delivery agencies to achieve both short and long term strategies targeted at Aboriginal homelessness”.
