City of Vincent starts work on reconciliation action plan

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

WORK on the City of Vincent’s first Reconciliation Action Plan will commence this month with the first meeting of a working group to take place.

The Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group comprises of three City officers, two City councillors and five community representatives.

The City council appointed its members at its May 31 meeting.

Despite only two of the 10 members being from an indigenous background, City chief executive Len Kosova said the others had “extensive experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.”

“Nyoongar Outreach Services will also be assisting the working group to directly engage with our local indigenous community,” he said.

Mr Kosova said the group would meet every three to four weeks until the first ‘Reflect’ Reconciliation Action Plan had been developed, which is hoped to be by early 2017.

Meetings will be held in Leederville.
