IT looks like summer is well and truly over and winter is coming, as Perth experienced its coldest morning of the year this morning.

The city was in the receiving end of a cold snap this morning, reaching a low of 8.8 degrees around 6.40am.

That temperature made it the coldest morning of 2019 so far, beating the previous record of 10 degrees set at the beginning of January.

The rest of Perth also felt the cold, with Jandakot recording the lowest temperature in the metro area, as the thermometer recorded a reading of just 5.9 degrees just before 7am.

Perth Airport fared only slightly better, recording a minimum of 6.2 degrees at 6.38am.

Fortunately, for the time being there is not a cloud in sight, with a top of 24 degrees and zero chance of rain forecast for today by the Bureau of Meteorology.

The fine weather is expected to continue throughout the weekend, with a top of 25 and 28 degrees predicted for Saturday and Sunday respectively.
