Coles’ most popular employee Barry Sommers returns to Perth

MEET the internet’s favourite Coles employee who is breaking hearts in Joondalup, but mending them in Perth.

Barry Sommers is a much-loved “Perthonality” who won the hearts and minds of locals when he started working for Coles six years ago.

But, the refurbishment of Raine Square saw Barry move to the Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City store.

Barry, has become such a beloved identity that he has his own Facebook page with more than 2500 followers.

His role as a Self Service Checkout Assistant has allowed him to become popular with regular customers.

So popular that at the Coles Raine Square opening there was a sign displayed to welcome him back.

Even the Bell Tower Times acknowledged how awesome Barry is with their own tribute.

A Facebook fan of Barry’s suggested that he be cloned, while another said they couldn’t wait to return to Australia from the UK so they could see him again.

Reddit users describe Barry as sweet, charismatic and genuine.

A Coles spokeswoman said Barry had been based at the Perth store for six years and was only relocated to the Joondalup store during the Raine Square development.
