Collingwood fan starts petition to overrule West Coast’s AFL Grand Final win

Rachel FennerEastern Reporter

AN aggrieved Collingwood fan has started a change.org petition to have the AFL overturn the West Coast Eagles Grand Final win.

More than 1000 have signed the petition since it was started on Sunday.

Petition creator Rod Craven from Traralgon in Victoria believes “that certain umpiring decisions in the 2018 AFL Grand Final were either wrongly awarded, were missed entirely and eventually cost the Collingwood Football Club the premiership”.

Mr Craven claims the ball being touched in the first quarter as it went through the goals and illegal blocking on Brayden Maynard were incidents that changed the result of the game.

“We as Collingwood supporters, as well as most of the general public, feel that a grand final should be allowed to be won on merit, and not be awarded as the result of poor umpiring and biases toward clubs and particular players held by the governing body,” Mr Craven wrote.
