THE community will have input on the future of the Inglewood Bowling Club site once the club relocates.

It was revealed this month the City of Stirling would no longer spend money on clubhouse facilities and gave the 74 members until the end of the year to find another home.

Stirling Recreation and Leisure Services Manager Cheyne Cameron said “the community will be involved in determining the future vision for the bowls site”.

“(There will be) the opportunity to create broader community access to parkland spaces and informal recreational activities,” he said.

Mr Cameron said while other sub-clubs used the facilities, it was still waiting on hiring needs information from the bowling club before the City began helping find alternative arrangements for their activities.

He would not reveal the last time the city spent money on the building, how much was spent and why.

Former club president Dave Pearce told 6PR members voted to close the club after receiving the City’s news.
