Customer service to be recognised

The online customer service awards, approved by the council at last week’s meeting, will give customers a chance to nominate and vote for businesses throughout the City of Perth that provide excellent customer service.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said she hoped the awards helped to change how people interacted with each other.

‘This really goes back to our culture and our engagement with the community,’ she said.

‘In Perth we don’t make eye contact with each other, like you see happen in other places around the world.

‘We can be a change for good that will hopefully permeate through society.’

Ms Scaffidi said the awards aimed to continue promoting good customer service in the growing city.

‘I think as our city changes, the expectations of customer service are also changing, as people from all over Australia and the world come to Perth, be it to live or visit,’ she said.

Cr James Limnios said the awards would support other initiatives which aim to attract tourists to Perth.
