ASTHMA and hayfever medication linked to psychotic episodes and depression will have new warnings in the packaging.

Producers of montelukast, a drug marketed under many brand names including Singulair, have been asked to warn users and parents about potential neuropsychiatric events when using the medication.

Health Minister Greg Hunt ordered the Therapeutic Goods Administration to review the medication earlier this year after some users took their own lives.
