The Wellington Street location will facilitate current blood donations until the centre moves to its new offices on 140 William Street in the Perth CBD in May.

People can give blood every three months so donors rebooking will be able to enjoy the new facilities at their next visit.

State Acting Donor Services manager Kit Parker said it was a very exciting time for the Blood Service and Perth donors.

‘Our new $4 million donor centre is more spacious, modern and is a mere 700m away from the old centre location,’ Ms Parker said.

‘Situated right above the Murray Street Mall and Perth underground station, this convenient location will make donating in Perth even easier for our donors.’

Ms Parker said the new Perth centre would make it easier for donors to give plasma and for the centre to meet increasing demand.

‘Currently, the demand for plasma is at an all-time high, while the demand for red cells ” derived from standard whole blood donations ” has recently reduced,’ Ms Parker said.

‘With the capacity to expand, the new Perth centre will be able to better meet the needs of the patients now and also cater for any future growth in demand for blood and blood products.’
