Ending the free-for-all: Town of Vincent parking

PARKING restrictions will be introduced in three more areas of Vincent to stop commuters parking on residential streets.

City of Vincent Mayor John Carey said the problem had become worse since the Public Transport Authority started charging a fee to park at railway station carparks.

“We’ve got more (parking restriction requests) coming,” Mr Carey said.

“The number one complaint I receive as mayor is always car or parking related.

“We are not a free carpark for the CBD.”

At its September 22 meeting, the council approved the introduction of two-hour parking restrictions from 8am-5.30pm Mondays to Fridays in Gibney Avenue and Jugan, Anderson and Milton streets in Mt Hawthorn.

The council also approved the same two-hour parking restriction for Victoria Street in West Perth.

Parking restrictions were approved for Grosvenor Road in Mt Lawley, which was the only remaining unrestricted street in the area.

The restriction on Grosvenor Road, from William Street to Hutt Street, will apply from 8am-5.30pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am-noon Saturdays.
