ROTARY is expanding to Elizabeth Quay.

Members from the Rotary Club of Perth and Rotary of Crawley are establishing the Rotary Club of Elizabeth Quay, which will be capped at 100 members.

“With Rotary, you can’t be all things to all people so this club will be set up to appeal to young leaders in Perth,” James McLeod, who was a charter member of Rotary of Crawley, said.

“I learnt a lot lessons being at Crawley from the start. Once we’ve got 20 members then we can apply for a charter… we’re nearly there.

“The average age will probably be between 30 and 40.”

Charter members include April Pine (Stirling), Tristan Kolay (Bassendean), Dragan Koncar (Dianella), Michelle Naude (Leederville) and Alexia Sita (Karrinyup).

Mr McLeod, of Jolimont, said the group would be innovative about how it supported Rotary projects, setting it apart from neighbouring clubs.

“The intention is to meet every week but one week we’ll have a high profile speaker, then a projects meeting, then a social event and finish off with another projects meeting,” he said.

Mr McLeod said the group would meet at The Reveley and eventually the Ritz-Carlton.
