MORNING clouds cleared in time for crowds to arrive at yesterday’s Fairday at Birdwood Square.
The annual family friendly event, part of the WA Pridefest program, drew hundreds of people for a picnic and a party.
The event featured stalls from various community and political groups while performers, including drag queen Swish Eveready, entertained the crowd from the main stage.
Regular Fairday attendee Jim Gillan said Pridefest events were still relevant for the LGBTI community.
“I think it is important that we still have events like this,” he said.
“A lot of people still live in isolation a bit when it comes to sexuality so it is an opportunity to be with like-minded people.”
