Feedback invited on proposed Beaufort Street speed change

ROAD users and Inglewood community members can have their say on a proposed speed limit change on Beaufort Street.

The long-awaited trial would see the speed limit reduced to 40km/h along Beaufort Street from Central Avenue to Crawford Road in Inglewood.

According to the City of Stirling, it had received “numerous requests, over many years” to lower the limit and believed it would likely increase safety and vibrancy, and foster greater community and commercial activity in the area.

Maylands MLA Lisa Baker said her office was on the busy street so saw every day the dangers of crossing and accessing the road.

“Community groups, businesses and home owners have been asking for a speed reduction on Beaufort Street in Inglewood for some nine years or so,” she said.

“What is being suggested is a pilot, not a permanent solution – I encourage people to have their say.”

The proposal is for the speed reduction to be in place from 7.30am to 10pm and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Feedback is open until December 20 here.
