Fine over drug-fuelled Perth party

Laura PondEastern Reporter

A MAN has walked free from prison following his arrest over a drug-fuelled party in a Perth hotel room.

Mario James D’Aloisio was arrested on August 17 for supplying cocaine during a party in a room at The Westin Perth on August 10.

The court heard during his appearance on August 21 via video link from Casuarina Prison that Mr D’Aloisio provided nine lines of cocaine to party attendees.

Magistrate Geoff Lawrence fined him $1000 and court costs, and ordered a spent conviction.

He took into account his lawyer Paul Bevilacqua’s statements that Mr D’Aloisio cared for his grandmother who speaks broken English and organises her appointments, taxis and shopping trips.

Mr Lawrence said there was not evidence he obtained the cocaine or brought it to the party and believed his couple of days spent in custody would ensure he would not want to return to prison.

“I don’t think you’ll fall into this trap again,” he said.
