Work is expected to be finished in November. New facilities include a refurbished library, 12 classrooms, covered assembly area, hard courts, a dental therapy unit and areas to allow collaboration between students and teachers.

Education Minister Peter Collier toured the school last Thursday and said the original facade would serve as a reminder of the rich history of the school, but inside would be state-of-the-art technology and facilities.

‘The community has moved on admirably from the events of two years ago and I know students and staff will be delighted to return to an outstanding new school,’ Mr Collier said.

Principal Don Barba said that it had been a long construction process and the community could be very proud of the impressive new facility.

‘The future is looking bright,’ Mr Barba said.

Students will remain on the temporary site on the lower oval of Mt Lawley Senior High School until the end of the year.
