First of three planned crossing lights in City of Vincent installed

THE first of three planned crossing lights in the City of Vincent was installed last week making it safer for pedestrians to cross the street.

Perth MLA John Carey and Vincent mayor Emma Cole tested out the recently installed lights on Fitzgerald Street, North Perth with a stroll from one side to the other.

Mr Carey said about $600,000 was budgeted for the three crossing upgrades with the next two to be installed at later dates within 18 months.

“While we were down there, a father and his three daughters used the crossing too; there were cars whizzing by,” he said.

“You can never underestimate how many residents are concerned about road safety especially with so many children walking to and from school and the park.”
