Free Comic Book Day: where to get a free comic in Perth

Staff WriterEastern Reporter

TOMORROW is Free Comic Book Day.

Just a day after the nerdgasm that’s May the Fourth, Free Comic Book Day, which is celebrated on the first Saturday in May each year, sees participating comic book specialty shops around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops.

You read that correctly – free. Shops have different policies on how many free comics you can receive, but you will receive at least one free comic if you enter a participating shop location.

Comiczone at 81 Barrack Street is the sole Perth comic book store participating in the day.

The first Free Comic Book Day event was held in 2002, with thousands of shops around the world giving away millions of free comic books to readers since.

In addition to comic books, some stores also give away other merchandise, such as mini posters and other movie tie-in memorabilia; this year it is Venom.

A list of the comics available for free this year can be found here.
