Through this, she raised more than $1200, with the funds going to Charity: Water, an organisation helping to provide people in developing countries with clean drinking water.

‘Then the crazy idea came to my mind, if I could save that many people from just gathering the help of family and friends, how many more people can we help as a community?’ she said.

‘My mission is to get $1 from each person to reach my goal in raising $10,000 for the charity.’

Miss Pan’s altruistic motivation has been spurred by entering Miss Humanity Australia, a pageant which promotes humanitarian causes, and for each $1000 she raises, Miss Pan has committed to walk an hour.

‘I wanted to do that because there are millions of people out there that are walking up to eight hours a day while carrying a heavy clay pot to collect dirty water to provide for their family’. Donate: my.charitywater.org.janetpans_23rd.
