A MT Lawley burger joint flipped patties for a good cause as part of its Family Fun Day on July 31.
Grill’d was decorated and children got their face painted to help raise funds and awareness in support of Organ Donation & Transplant Foundation of WA (ODATWA).
One of the Local Matters jars was dedicated to ODATWA for the month of July.
ODATWA founder Simone McMahon said Australia’s transplant success rates were amongst the best in the world, yet it had one of the lowest organ donation rates.
“Almost anyone can donate; don’t assume you are too old, too young or not healthy enough to make a difference,” she said.
She said more than 1400 Australians were on the wait list for life-saving or life-transforming transplants, with an average of two people dying every week while waiting.
DonateLife Week is Australia’s national awareness week to promote organ and tissue donation from Sunday July 30 to Sunday, August 6.
