Guardian Express photographer claims another award

GUARDIAN Express photographer Andrew Ritchie has won an Older People Speak Out Award (OPSO) for his body of work featuring seniors in the community.

Ritchie took out the ‘Best photo spread, photo series, body of work or gallery of images that depicts older Australians in a positive manner’ in the rural, regional and community category.

He accepted the award in Brisbane on Monday night.

The Community Newspaper Group photographer said seniors were an important part of the community.

“They’re the first ones to put their hands up to volunteer and that’s why they feature so heavily in community newspapers,” Ritchie said.

“It’s good that there’s national recognition for them.”
