PERTH MLA John Carey is all about “taking the Mickey” out of himself.

This year’s theme is good versus evil, with a West Perth studio being transformed into heaven and hell.

“I know it is not typical for a politician to dress up but I have different fundraising techniques,” he said.

“I don’t think politicians should take themselves too seriously; we have a serious job but you cant live in a bubble, you have got to mix it up.”

Mr Carey said it was never too early to fundraise for the 2021 election.

“The next election seems like a long way, but they are deeply expensive,” he said.
