Mr Carey said the reform was the biggest of its kind the City had undertaken and would cover building heights, setbacks, plot ratios and garages.

"If there are better ideas, we want to hear them, we are prepared to listen."

The new draft planning policies have been released for public consultation and if approved would replace most of Vincent's current policies.

The six draft policies include precinct policies for Leederville, North Perth, Perth, Mt Lawley/Highgate and Mt Hawthorn and the Development Requirements and Building Design policy.

"We're already getting some really good ideas in," Mr Carey said.

Residents can submit a letter to the City, complete an online survey or attend a community forum on the planning reform.

Letters and online surveys must be submitted by September 11.
