A RECORD number of people have signed up to participate in an epic 700km cycling journey from Albany to Perth for the 2016 Hawaiian Ride for Youth.
About 150 cyclists will take part in the five-day ride from April 5-9 that raises awareness and funds for Youth Focus and its work in preventing youth suicide and depression.
Event chairman Bruce Fielding said the award-winning event highlighted important social issues among young people.

READ NOW“The Ride is an excellent opportunity for participants to keep fit and build new friendships, while supporting a great cause and spreading the Youth Focus message,” he said.
“Along the journey, the riders stop at 19 regional high schools and engage students in the issues of youth suicide, depression and self harm.
“For many riders, the school visits are the most rewarding part.”
Participants, including Hawaiian CEO Russell Gibbs and Wesfarmers CFO Terry Bowen, will ride the final leg of the ride from Mandurah to Perth with the 146 Hawaiian Ride for Youth cyclists into Kings Park.
The ride will commence in Albany and divide into three groups, each covering 700km to Perth via regional towns including Katanning, Narrogin, Walpole, Pemberton, Busselton, Frankland River, Bridgetown, Gnowangerup and Collie before meeting in Mandurah and riding the final leg together.
