HELEN Aguiar has been appointed Perth College principal.
The All Saints’ College vice principal will start at the Mt Lawley school in January next year.
Ms Aguiar replaces Jenny Ethell who is leaving the school after 16 years to lead Oxley College, a co-educational independent school in Bowral, New South Wales.

READ NOWSchool Council chairwoman Andrea Burns said Ms Aguiar was a global leader in the education of girls and a pioneer in positive psychology through the InsideOut self-leadership program.
“Not only is she a highly regarded leader with a passion for education, she is also a warm, engaging personality with a strong intellect – all the key traits that place the future of Perth College in good hands,” Ms Burns said.
Ms Aguiar has a Master of Education in Leadership and Management and a Master of Religious Education (specialising in pastoral care).
She is currently completing Doctorate studies exploring the institutional factors that influence the wellbeing of newly employed teachers, drawing upon Martin Seligman’s positive psychology framework.
“I am thrilled to be appointed the next principal of Perth College and aim to build upon the school’s reputation as a leader in girls’ education,” Ms Aguiar said.
“As a great believer in developing strong relationships, I am excited to be joining the vibrant Perth College community.”
